Situated at the base of Mont Mou, the first centre of colonisation set up by James Paddon (« Paddonville »), Païta is a sprawling district, stretching from Katiramona to Tontouta.
Bordered by the sea in the south, the district of Païta has both an easily accessible coastline and a vast pastoral territory. It includes many small islands and rivers.
The district’s main activities are agro-pastoral, possessing a cattle food processing plant and a fish farm. It is currently developing strawberry and carnation growing while also promoting its beaches and historical heritage.
